The small and peaceful town of Dornoch is located on the edge of the Dornoch Firth in Sutherland – a tranquil Highland location with beautiful scenery and a sunny microclimate.
Dornoch has many independent shops, bars, cafes and restaurants. The Cathedral was founded in 1224, was restored in the 19th and 20th centuries and is a popular wedding venue. Clynelish, Balblair, Glenmorangie and Dalmore whisky distilleries are all close by.
The blue flag beach stretches north from Dornoch Point for over four miles until it reaches Loch Fleet National Nature Reserve – home to seals and rare birds, with Osprey often seen fishing in the Summer months.
Just behind the beach, golf has been played on Dornoch links for over 400 years. The Royal Dornoch championship golf course is a natural links, laid out by Old Tom Watson in 1887, and is widely considered to be one of the world’s finest courses.
“It’s the most fun I’ve ever had on a golf course”
